Terms of Service
Last updated: July 23, 2026
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you (“you” or “User”) and PrayerWorks (“PrayerWorks,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) governing your access to and use of the PrayerWorks website, applications, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By creating an account, or by accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated herein by reference. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least thirteen (13) years of age to create an account. If you are between the age of thirteen (13) and the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction of residence, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and consented to these Terms on your behalf. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, including a church, you represent and warrant that you are authorized to bind that organization to these Terms.
2. Accounts and Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us promptly of any unauthorized use of your account. Accounts designated as church accounts are responsible for their congregation’s data, prayer-team membership, and any content they publish through the Service. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to safeguard your credentials.
3. User Content and License
“User Content” means the prayer requests, journal entries, messages, church profiles, prayer lists, guides, and other materials you submit to the Service. As between you and us, you retain all ownership rights in your User Content. You grant PrayerWorks a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, store, reproduce, and display your User Content solely as necessary to operate and provide the Service to you and to the persons and groups with whom you elect to share it. This license terminates when you delete the applicable User Content or your account, except to the extent the content was shared with others or is retained in routine backups for a limited period.
Your private journal is encrypted end-to-end. We do not have access to your journal’s decrypted contents and cannot recover them if you lose both your passphrase and your recovery code.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree that you will not, and will not permit any third party to:
- submit content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, threatening, or that infringes or misappropriates the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any person;
- use the Service to transmit spam, malware, or any code of a destructive nature, or to gain unauthorized access to any account, system, or data;
- reverse engineer, scrape, or use automated means to access the Service except as expressly permitted by us in writing; or
- use the Service in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
We reserve the right, but assume no obligation, to remove content or to suspend or terminate accounts that we determine, in our reasonable discretion, violate these Terms.
5. Church Accounts and Planning Center Integration
If your church connects a third-party service such as Planning Center Online, you represent and warrant that you are authorized to connect that account and to import the associated data. We access only the data reasonably necessary to build and maintain your prayer-team roster, we store any access credentials in encrypted form, and we process such data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. You may disconnect the integration at any time, after which we cease further access.
6. Scripture and Third-Party Content
The Service may display Bible text and other third-party materials for personal, devotional, and non-commercial use. All such materials remain the property of their respective rights holders and are subject to the terms and licenses of those rights holders.
Scripture quotations, unless otherwise indicated, are taken from The Holy Bible, New International Version®, NIV®. Copyright © 1973, 1978, 1984, 2011 by Biblica, Inc.® Used by permission. All rights reserved worldwide. “NIV” and “New International Version” are trademarks registered in the United States Patent and Trademark Office by Biblica, Inc. Use of either trademark for the offering of goods or services requires the prior written consent of Biblica.
7. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its software, design, text, and graphics (excluding User Content and third-party materials), is owned by PrayerWorks and is protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the rights expressly granted to you in these Terms, no rights are granted to you in or to the Service.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL PRAYERWORKS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless PrayerWorks and its operators from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to your User Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
11. Termination
You may delete your account at any time from Settings, which permanently removes your data and, for church owners, the church account you created, subject to limited retention in routine backups. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms or if we are required to do so by law.
12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of [Pennsylvania], United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The exclusive venue for any dispute not subject to arbitration shall be the state or federal courts located in [Lehigh County, Pennsylvania], and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. [If an arbitration or class-action-waiver provision is desired, it must be added here and reviewed by counsel for enforceability in the applicable jurisdiction.]
13. Changes to These Terms
We may modify these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide notice within the Service. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of them.
14. Miscellaneous
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision is not a waiver of that right or provision. You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
